Prayer for Monday 28/5/18
As we gather to pray for Reconciliation, may we remember that May 27th marks an important date in Australia’s history. This date is the anniversary of the 1967 Referendum, when Australians voted to remove clauses in the Australian Constitution that discriminated against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we gather today on the traditional land of the Boon Wurrung people let us pay respect to their elders both past and present, for they hold the memories, the culture and the wisdom upon which our nation is built upon.
In the name of the father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Holy Father, God of Love, Hope and Healing,
As the creator of this land and all good things,
We sing your praise and thank you for the survival of Indigenous cultures,
We place our hope in you to help guide all people with reconciliation.
Teach us to respect all cultures and help us to bring about spiritual and social change.
God of Hope, Open up our hearts so that we may hear the message you teach of a world where the wrongs of the past are recognized,
God of Healing, Open up our hearts so that we may live in a world in which a reconciled people walk and talk together sharing stories
We ask this in Jesus’ name,
In the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit,
